Durant also created a racing team that won 500 racing trophies in 1909 and 19 10, including successes at Indianapolis two years before the Indy 500 began. The success of Buick engines was visible not only on the race track, but in endurance tests across the country and around the world. Buick was the only car to complete a 1,000-mile Chicago-to-New York race in 1906. And a Buick was the first car to travel across South America, driven from Buenos Aires, Argentina, over the Andes to Santiago, Chile in 19 14. Buick drew plenty of attention because it could climb hills and run through mud like no other car. Buick’s endurance and reliability were world famous. During World War I, Buick built Liberty aircraft engines as well as Red Cross ambulances so successful that one Buick ambulance was awarded the Croix de Guerre by the French government. As a builder of premier automobiles, Buick was hard hit by the Great Depression. However, new General Manager, Harlow H. Curtice created popular new models including the Special and the Roadmaster. Buick sales soon flourished.

Renault Wind's length of 3.83 meters sees the newcomer slot between Twingo (3,60 m) and Clio (4,03 m), and marks the addition to the Renault range of a new, compact, coupé-roadster concept that is ideally suited to everyday motoring. FOR WHO? AND IN RESPONSE TO WHAT DEMAND? Renault sees no reason why the freedom associated with wind-in-the- hair motoring should be the exclusive reserve of the higher-end seg- ments. On the contrary, there is an unmet demand in Europe for a small convertible that can serve as an everyday car, either for the driver alone or for a couple without children. Such customers are quite young (or young at heart!), attracted by the sporty cues of coupés and road- sters and looking for eye-catching looks, as well as a model that is sufficiently practical to serve as an everyday car. RENAULT WIND: A COUPÉ-ROADSTER To meet this demand, it was necessary to produce a coupé-roadster with a unique, striking design and sporty looks, but without making any concessions with regard to the features that are seen to go hand-in- hand with the sense of true freedom: • a clever, robust, easy-to-use roof-opening mechanism that delivers genuine wind-in-the-hair thrills, • an exceptionally practical car, with consistent boot space whether the top is up or down, • compact dimensions and nimble handling ideally suited to driving in and around town, • fun, punchy dynamics combined with low fuel consumption, • a low-set driving position and a sporty layout for the controls, • an outstanding equipment and specification package for its price.

Free renault zoe the electric supermini Manual PDF

Designed from the start as an all-electric vehicle, Renault ZOE is a supermini of clean, flowing lines. The distinctive front end expresses the new brand identity with its friendly, appealing looks. The blue effect of the logo, headlamps and dark-tinted windows identify ZOE as an electric car. Reflecting the concept of purity, the cabin aims to create a relaxing, zen feel with materials that are soft to the touch. A design adventure dating back to the end of 2008 At the end of January 2008 at the Davos Forum, Carlos Ghosn announced the ambition of the Renault brand to market a range of four electric vehicles. The flagship model was project X10, a supermini designed as an all-electric vehicle, intended for mass marketing. This far-reaching mission was placed in the hands of the pre-project teams, who confirmed its technical and economic feasibility on December 16, 2008. This marked the starting point of the design process, organized on a competition basis. The brief presented on January 21, 2009 stated that the design should be “friendly and reassuring for an innovative, responsible all-electric vehicle”. ZOE, a car with a difference The first creative proposals adopted an extremely radical approach. Designers saw the new electrical era as a great opportunity to reinvent the car. Nevertheless, little by little, studies gradually converged towards a more rational approach. The transition from internal combustion to electric power would already mark a major break in customer habits, so it was important for the styling of ZOE not to be too perplexing. The aim was to design a car with a difference, but reflecting the formal cues of automotive design in its lines and proportions, so that it would be immediately accepted.

Free Renault ZOE - Euro NCAP Manual PDF

COMMENTS Adult occupant The passenger compartment remained stable in the frontal impact. Dummy readings indicated good protection of all body regions for the passenger, and for all of the driver's body regions apart from the chest, protection of which was adequate. For the knees and femurs, Renault showed that a similar level of protection would be provided to occupants of different sizes and to those sat in different positions. In the side barrier test, the ZOE scored maximum points, with good protection of all body regions. However, in the more severe side pole impact, dummy readings of rib compression indicated weak protection of the chest. The front seats and head restraints provided marginal protection against whiplash injuries in the event of a rear-end collision. Child occupant For 2013, Euro NCAP is using improved child dummies and applying a broader assessment of CRS to vehicle compatibility. Based on dummy data from the dynamic tests, the ZOE scored maximum points for its protection of the 1½ year infant. In the frontal impact, forward movement of the 3 year dummy, sat in a forward-facing restraint, was not excessive. In the side impact, both dummies were properly contained within the protective shells of their restraints, minimising the likelihood of dangerous head contact with parts of the car interior. All of the child restraints for which the car is designed could be installed without problem apart from the group 2/3 restraint, which could not be properly installed in the rear centre seat. The passenger airbag can be disabled to allow a rearward-facing restraint to be used in the front passenger seat. Clear information is provided to the driver regarding the status of the airbag and the system was rewarded. Pedestrian The bumper provided good protection to pedestrians' legs in all areas tested and scored maximum points. The front edge of the bonnet offered marginal protection to the pelvis area. The bonnet offered predominantly fair protection for the head of a struck pedestrian, with some good protection in the areas where a child's head and an adult's head might strike. Safety assist Electronic stability control is standard equipment on the ZOE, and passed Euro NCAP's test requirements. A seatbelt reminder is standard for the front and rear seats. A speed assistance system is also standard equipment. This uses digital mapping to indicate the relevant speed limit. The driver can then use a manually-set speed limitation device as appropriate to control the vehicle's speed.

WITH A REPLACEMENT FOR THE Clio not due for another two years, Renault needed to keep the evergreen model in contention with a lot of new rival superminis that are soon to appear or are just over the horizon. So it’s got its retaliation in early. Cue Clio III … Immediately obvious are the new headlamp clusters and frontal styling inspired by the forthcoming, mould- breaking Vel Satis. But this is much more than a facelift – nearly half the car’s body and structural components are new. What’s more, with all the various engine options, equipment levels, three or five doors and a choice of transmissions, there are, it says here, more than 5100 combinations of new Clio. Inside, too, there are major changes in style, practicality and notably finish to the “soft-feel” facia. Big, clear dials are housed in a double-arched binnacle, while the centre console has been redesigned to house a satellite navigation screen and climate control on posher models. Our “Expression” test car didn’t even have air con, but it’s the underbonnet view that’s special. Under there is a new 1.5 diesel with the same fuel injection/common-rail system that’s also making its appearance under Ford Fiesta and Peugeot 206/307 bonnets. This is Renault’s own engine of course, and the company claims that it’s the most abstemious thing on four wheels, currently available – except for hybrids like the Honda Insight. Renault continues the renewal of its small car range Renault is one of the principal players in the small- car segment, a strategic sector that accounts for more than one-third of the European market (5 mil- lion vehicles). With Clio III, Modus – launched in 2004 – and Twingo, which continues to be highly successful, Renault is aiming for a market share of close to 11% in Europe in 2005. The total renewal of Renault's small car line-up – which began with Modus – has led to the establish- ment of a new manufacturing structure that sees each of its production sites (Flins and Bursa, plus Dieppe for the Renault Sport version) given over to a single type of vehicle. The total programme outlay for Clio III was €953 million, of which €630 million represented produc- tion-related investment.

Toyota Hilux Technical Information Manual PDF

TECHNICAL REPORT LET’S LOOK AT THE TOYOTA HILUX 52 PanelTalk TECHNICAL REPORT I-CAR New Zealand is currently developing the Toyota Collision Repair Course for 23 vehicles of the current Toyota fleet. This course will be delivered in two packages, the first covering commercial and recreational vehicles and the second delivery will cover passenger vehicles. There are a large number of Hilux vehicles around the country and as a result collision damage is common place, unlike the city driven SUVs, many are often used in the rugged or off road conditions they are designed for. Many accidents in these conditions often result in more extensive and sometimes a different type of damage than that commonly seen with city driven vehicles. Roll-over repairs are common place for the Hilux and other similar type vehicles in rural regions around NZ, however detailed repair methods for this type of repair will not always be covered in the body repair manuals. Before safety features and construction methods for utility type vehicles became the same as any regular type passenger vehicle, the repairer could carry out repairs as he had always done but this is not the case anymore, it is equally as important that these safety features are reinstated like any other passenger vehicle. We will look at some repair methods for the Hilux that are not always easy to find in the standard repair manual, but first we will look at the body structure of the cab. All three cab configurations have a four star ANCAP safety rating and use High-Strength Sheet Steel (HSSS) for the A, B and C Pillar reinforcements plus the floor cross beams; they do have sectioning methods for the side reinforcements, however make sure you always follow the correct repair specifications if doing this type of repair. Fig 1: shows the upper staggered joint for sectioning the double cab B Pillar. The repair manual also states that Toyota prohibits the use of the heat repair method when repairing collision damage and that parts that are kinked should be replaced. Fig 1. B Pillar reinforcement upper joint Fig 2 and 3: show the cut options available for the double and extended cab outer side panels; these cut locations are similar for all three models of cab. Note!! This illustration is only an example; you will need the full specifications for accurate cut measurements. Fig 2 and 3. Outer panel cut options
